About John Guenst

A well-established Nashville physician, Dr. John Guenst has been a partner at Saint Thomas Medical Group for nearly two decades. He provides patients with internal medicine care and is also an aviation medical examiner who performs class two and class three Federal Aviation Administration physical exams. A member of the Nashville Academy of Medicine, Dr. John Guenst also serves on the medical executive committee of the Saint Thomas Medical Group.
Dr. Guenst earned his B.S. in biology and chemical engineering at Clarkson University in Potsdam, New York, and subsequently pursued an M.D. at Vanderbilt University in Nashville. He completed United States Air Force pilot training in 1990 before going on to serve for nearly two decades as a Tennessee Air National Guard pilot. Deeply involved with the community, Dr. Guenst is a member of Nashville’s Church of the Messiah and has volunteered time and efforts with the churches’ free medical clinic. In his free time, Dr. John Guenst enjoys running in charity events and organic gardening.
